SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Test

Test result in 15 minutes

Easy handling without an additional analysis system

Sample material: nasopharynx

Test option where no laboratory test is available

Test intended for professional use

Reliable, fast chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of a specific SARS-CoV-2 antigen in the human nasopharynx.

Use in symptomatic and asymptomatic patients

The SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Test from Roche offers a fast and reliable response for both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients with regard to SARS-CoV-2 infection. For example, a precise screening of people with known contact with SARS-CoV-2 infected people can be carried out and the infection status can be determined. The SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Test Kit from Roche contains all the necessary materials and can be used by healthcare professionals from any location.

The use

The SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Test from Roche is carried out by healthcare professionals near the patient. This is particularly advantageous when decisions have to be made promptly or laboratory tests are difficult to access. The test helps to identify infected people quickly, enables better patient management and more effective use of health care resources. The results are intended to facilitate the early diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection in patients with clinical symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 and to help with the initial examination of patients. In addition, it serves as a valuable supplement in diagnostics for the initial screening of people who have direct contact with SARS-CoV-2 infected people or those who have been exposed to a high-risk environment. This can prevent the virus from spreading and contain the pandemic.

Features and benefits of the SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Test from Roche

The SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Test from Roche detects proteins that are structural or functional components of a pathogen and are therefore very specific for this pathogen. In this case, the test would provide a qualitative “yes / no” answer to the presence of the pathogen in the patient sample and can be offered as a quick test strip that is performed at the point-of-care. If the target antigen is present in sufficient concentration in the sample, it will bind to specific antibodies and generate a visually detectable signal on the test strip, with results usually available in 15 to 30 minutes.

Handling in four steps

1. Take a smear

A smear is taken from the nasopharynx by the healthcare professional.

2. Dissolve the sample in the extraction buffer

The sample is dissolved in the extraction buffer by rotating at least 5 times. The test stick can then be removed again.

3. Application of the dissolved sample

Three drops of the sample to be tested are applied to the intended reagent carrier.

4. Read the result

The result can be read after 15 to 30 minutes.

For a validated result, the control line "C" must be formed. The result is positive as soon as the test line "T" changes color. A negative result is given if no band is formed for the test line.
